Kazakhstan Temir Zholy and LocoTech-Signal to Partner Up in the Field of Traffic Control System Modernization

Moscow. April 19, 2021. A memorandum of cooperation in the field of train traffic control systems at small, medium, and large railway stations of Kazakhstan railways has been signed during the visit of the Kazakhstan Temir Zholy (KTZ, Kazakhstan Railways) delegation to Transmashholding enterprises, as reported by the External and Corporate Communications Directorate of the holding.

The document provides for projects for technological development and increasing the safety and efficiency of the transportation process technologies.

The memorandum was signed by KTZ Chief Engineer Batyr Kotyrev and Andrey Romanchikov, General Director of LocoTech-Signal (part of TMH) and TMH Managing Director for the development of smart control systems.

The memorandum continues the successful partnership between KTZ and LocoTech-Signal that began in 2019. As soon as in the middle of this year, Kazakhstan railways will begin performance tests of the latest CTRL@LOCK 400 computer-based interlocking systems and CTRL@TRACK 100 tonal track circuits for controlling railway switches, lights, and other objects, ensuring rolling stock movement safety and monitoring its location in the infrastructure.

The modern CTRL@LOCK 400 computer-based interlocking system will allow customers to choose the best configuration, from a fully centralized one where all equipment is in one place (for example, a computer-based interlocking station) to one as decentralized as possible where equipment is placed in the immediate vicinity of the infrastructure facilities.

After the CTRL@LOCK 400 passes performance tests and its conformity to the requirements for the KTZ main line network is confirmed, LocoTech-Signal will begin replicating the system on other segments of Kazakhstan railways. This will help cut operating costs, ensure a high level of safety of train movement, and pave the way for industry digitalization.
